Sample Portfolios | Spirit Tree SeriesWhile traveling in Britain and Europe, Pat realized that almost all of the landscape had been developed or intensively cultivated for centuries. This developed in her an awareness of the unique quality and immense value of Canada's natural environment, particularly our forests, lakes and streams. It also led her to the conviction that some of these areas should be protected forever from development so that future generations can experience the natural environment, undisturbed by humans. Scattered throughout these natural forests are the skeletons of centuries old trees — Spirit Trees — which house the spirits of our dead ancestors. One particular skeleton forest — Gator Garden, located at Alert Bay in British Columbia — inspired this series. These Spirit Trees, ever watchful of human activities, bear witness to the affairs of mankind and the disappearance of nature's old growth forests. Click thumbnails for enlargements.
